Falcons Urged to ‘Ace’ Draft After Getting Crucial Advice

The Atlanta Falcons remain without a first round pick in this year’s NFL Draft, but can they make the most of what they have?

The Falcons have brand new management and a brand-new coaching staff. The organization will look capitalize on the picks they have in the draft. The team has 5 picks in this year’s draft:

  • 48
  • 79
  • 122
  • 215
  • 231

These picks are not much to work with, but they could ‘ace’ their picks according to ESPN.

Falcons Look to Improve Wide Receiver Position

The Falcons signed Jahan Dotson and resigned Olamide Zaccheaus. Jahan Dotson finished with 151 total yards last year playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. Zaccheaus finished 2025 with 351 total yards with the Chicago Bears.

Though these two wide receivers are decent, the team could use more wide receiver depth.

“The Atlanta Falcons went into the offseason with little depth at the wide receiver position, and that was before they released Darnell Mooney. The team hasn’t had a decent slot receiver since Ray-Ray McCloud’s 2024 campaign.” Matt Urben wrote in the Falcons Wire article.

There are some notable names the Atlanta Falcons will have their eyes on wide receiver wise. Brenan Thompson, Zachariah Branch, De’Zhaun Stribling, and Chris Brazzell II are all names that come up. If they do not aim for a receiver, Atlanta could possibly target a second tight end to go along with Kyle Pitts.

“Matt Ryan, Ian Cunningham and Kevin Stefanski signed multiple depth wide receivers in Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus. But more is needed at the position … unless, of course, they plan on playing Kyle Pitts Sr. mostly at receiver, in which case the bigger need is at TE2, where only Austin Hooper and Charlie Woerner are on the roster.” The ESPN article says.

Offensive Line and Pass Rushers

The Atlanta Falcons could use more offensive line help. Drafting a young offensive lineman to develop could protect whoever will be at quarterback for Atlanta this year. Trevor Siemian, Tua Tagovailoa, and Michael Penix Jr. are all expected to compete for the starting job in 2026.

“Atlanta’s more pressing need is suddenly right tackle, as Jawaan Taylor was signed to replace the retiring Kaleb McGary. Jake Matthews is 34 and still playing impressively consistent ball, but it’s time for the Falcons to regularly invest in a developmental tackle.” The ESPN article says. “The Falcons are using 2026 as a QB tryout year, so they should be interested in accumulating 2027 draft capital for a potential trade-up package.”

Unfortunately, the future of edge rusher James Pearce Jr. is up in the air. The Falcons pass rusher was charged with three felony counts in February and has a trial hearing scheduled for May 4. Due to these circumstances, The Falcons may want to use one of their picks on a pass rusher.

“Because the Falcons lost star blitzer Kaden Elliss, any and all pass-rushing talents in the front seven could be targeted at No. 48. Dani Dennis-Sutton (Penn State) seems like a good scheme fit if they go for an edge rusher; Caleb Banks (Florida) would be a great gamble if he falls to the middle of the second round.” The ESPN article says.
