Atlanta Braves fans, you can start to get excited about seeing Spencer Strider back in the rotation.
On Wednesday, before the Tigers game, multiple reports surfaced that Spencer Strider will start on Sunday against the Colorado Rockies in Coors Field.
Manager Walt Weiss told reporters the news, as Weiss had indicated yesterday that Strider’s next start would be with the big-league club.

With the news that Spencer Strider will start for the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, look out for a roster move before that game against the Rockies to accommodate Strider returning off the injured list.
Strider tweaked his oblique just a few weeks before the season, which led to his IL stint, but he’s shown good progress in his minor league starts. His last outing with Triple-A featured Strider going five innings and striking out seven batters. His velocity is also starting to creep back to what it was pre-2024.
“Strider’s left oblique checked out fine following his third and final minor-league rehab start last Sunday with Triple-A Gwinnett, setting the stage for the right-hander to make his 2026 debut with the big club. The 27-year-old gets a less-than-ideal landing spot for his first start with Atlanta in hitter-friendly Colorado, but he should be in line for relatively standard workload. He upped his pitch count to 82 and covered five innings in his final rehab outing.”
The Braves’ starting pitching has been stellar this season, and is a big reason they hold the best record in MLB (21-9). Atlanta has yet to lose a series this season, and have received great contributions from starters like Bryce Elder, Martin Perez, and Grant Holmes.

What Does Spencer Strider’s Return Mean for Braves?

Spencer Strider’s return to the Braves’ starting rotation gives Atlanta an extra layer of depth.
Just about every pitcher who has started a game for Atlanta has turned in a solid start.
In 125+ innings with the Braves in a troubling 2025 season, Strider posted an ERA of 4.45 with 131 strikeouts.
He underwent Tommy John Surgery in 2024 and missed much of that season. Before that, Strider was one of the premier strikeout artists in MLB due to his velocity sitting 98-100 MPH.
However, he lost some of that after the elbow procedure (as every MLB starter usually does), and Strider looks to regain his All-Star/Cy Young finalist form.
If the Braves get dominance out of Spencer Strider, that will give Atlanta one of the best rotations in MLB if it isn’t already.
