Biden’s third State of the Union, according to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, will aim to bridge the gap between data that shows the U.S. economy is doing well in the midst of a global inflation trend and the general public’s struggles with energy and grocery bills.

The president will “lay out the historic achievements he has delivered on for the American people and his vision for the future. President Biden got more done in his first three years than most presidents have accomplished in two terms,” Jean-Pierre said during a Wednesday press call.

While Biden is doing so, the 45th president will offer quick counter-political punches.

“I will correct, in rapid response, any and all inaccurate Statements, especially pertaining to the Border and his Weaponization of the DOJ, FBI, A.G.s, and District Attorneys, to go after his Political Opponent, ME (something never done before in this Country!). We did this once before to tremendous success – Beating All Records. It is important for the Country to get the TRUTH,” he wrote, punctuation and capitalization his.

The U.S. Constitution’s Article II Section 3 dictates that the president “shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” President Calvin Coolidge was the first to deliver the address via a national radio broadcast in 1923. President Harry Truman, in 1947, was the first to deliver the speech on television.

For a bit of perspective: Biden was 4 years old during Truman’s broadcast, Trump about 6 months old.

Biden will deliver his address at 9 p.m. on ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, FOX News, MSNBC, NBC, and NewsNation. It was unclear when Trump’s counter-programing will begin or which networks might carry it.
