Rep. Tony Cárdenas presents Alliance for Community Empowerment with $1 million
On Friday morning, Rep. Tony Cárdenas, D-San Fernando, paid a visit to the Alliance for Community Empowerment in Canoga Park and brought with him a much welcome gift: a check for $1 million.
The money will be used to purchase a building that will allow ACE to expand its education and job-training programming in the high-need neighborhood of Reseda.

“Thank you, Congressman Tony Cárdenas, for being a longtime champion. Your unwavering support and $1 million community project funding will expand ACE services to other underserved areas within the Valley,” ACE said on social media. “This generous donation not only supports our mission but reaffirms your commitment to change and increasing opportunities.”
The organization helps those who were formerly incarcerated, high school dropouts and other populations in need in the West San Fernando Valley. It offers gang prevention intervention, high school diplomas, college and career planning, job-training and counseling services.
Cárdenas’ visit coincides with Second Chance for Justice Month and highlights his efforts to address the significant legal and societal barriers for thousands of people released from incarceration each year.
“I see our society when they put somebody away for 28 years, 21 years, or even five years — they want to just throw people away,” Cárdenas said in a meeting with ACE participants. “But I can see ACE never gave up on you.”
