Malibu, Los Angeles County Beaches and Ventura County Beaches are included in a high surf advisory issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 1:57 p.m. The advisory is valid from Friday 6 a.m. until Saturday Feb. 7, at 6 p.m.
“Large breaking waves of 4 to 9 feet with dangerous rip currents,” can be expected according to the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA. “Local higher sets may affect entrance into and out of Ventura Harbor at times on Friday.”
“There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore,” the NWS said. “Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.”
