Daily News softball: Schedule for Saturday’s season openers

The CIF Southern Section softball season officially begins Saturday.

The Shapiro Classic will be held at Alemany High School on Saturday and other teams will compete in nonleague games or travel out of the area to tournaments.

The Hart Tournament was originally slated for Saturday but is now set to begin on Feb. 17 due to the City of Santa Clarita closing Central Park due to wet fields from the recent rain.

Here’s a look at the schedule for Saturday as well as the Hart Tournament the following weekend:

Shapiro Classic

At Alemany High School

Golden Valley vs. Eisenhower, 10 a.m.

Heritage Christian vs. Eisenhower, 11:45 a.m.

Alemany vs. Paraclete, 12:30 p.m.

Cypress Tournament

Granada Hills Charter vs. Cypress, 10 a.m.

Nonleague games

San Marcos at Newbury Park, 9 a.m.

Sylmar at Castaic, 10 a.m.

SATURDAY, FEB. 17

Hart Tournament

At Central Park, Santa Clarita

El Camino Real vs. Burroughs, 9 a.m. (field 4)

Oxnard vs. Saugus, 9 a.m. (field 3)

Louisville vs. Highland, 9 a.m. (field 2)

Kennedy vs. Hart, 9 a.m. (field 1)

Chaminade vs. Canyon, 11 a.m. (field 1)

Burbank vs. Royal, 11 a.m. (field 2)

Quartz Hills vs. West Ranch, 11 a.m. (field 4)

Camarillo vs. Birmingham, 11 a.m. (field 3)
