Coachella 2024: The most convenient and affordable food options at the fest

The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, happening on April 12-14 and 19-21, is a world of its own, full of performances over 10 different stages, including the unofficial DoLab and Heineken House. Even if festivalgoers are not there for the music, plenty of art installations and activations make for great photo opportunities.

But with so much happening at the festival and time being of the essence, it makes the daily necessities such as eating that much more of a daunting task. The event has great food options, that is, if you’re willing to pay over $20 for food that, let’s face it, is good but overpriced for just some tacos, burritos, burgers and fries. Not to mention, you may have to trade missing some of Coachella’s best moments, which are sometimes exclusive to each weekend. If you’re pressed for time, want to avoid overpaying for food, or sit down to eat, we compiled the top three food items you can pick up at the go that also had the quickest lines.

Here are the three most convenient eats at Coachella listed from least convenient to most:

No. 3: Ghostix

The corndog is a classic. It’s served on a stick, and you can add your sauce of choice without stopping and reapply it constantly, but Ghostix takes sauces out of the equation. This Korean-style corndog includes items such as the Goblin (potato-wrapped breading), the Lucifer (Flamin’ Hot Cheetos breading) and the Gizmo (a sweet corn breading), each at $15. This item’s twist on a classic lets you skip the sauce and is perfect for running between sets.

No. 2: SoCal Churros

Perhaps you want to enjoy a nice sit-down meal, but your next schedule gap isn’t for a couple of hours, so a snack is probably more up your alley. While this cart offers mostly options such as cinnamon churros ($8.75) and soft pretzels ($8.75), it also includes an all-beef hot dog ($13.75), which is the perfect bite that lives between a meal and a snack. It’s also eaten horizontally which means that it could hold everything in place while you navigate through the crowds.

No. 1: The Pizza Shop

Pizza is always there when all else fails at a festival (and in any other part of life, for that matter). This festival booth sells pies by the slice for $11 each with one topping of cheese, pepperoni, jalapeño and pepperoni, or veggies. If you feel like splurging you could even get The Works that contains meat and veggies for $13. If you want the whole pie though, it might be best to go in on it with a couple of friends, as it costs about $65, which at that point can really take the fun out of the pizza.
