With the holidays in the rearview mirror, restaurants assume that customers’ free-spending days are over for a while and might be ready to save a few bucks when they’re dining out.
To that end several fast food chains are touting their value menus, offering to fill you up for as little as $5 or $6.
Here are some deals that caught our attention this week. The information comes from their websites, social media posts or news releases. Prices come from their websites and may be a little bit higher at your local restaurant. This is especially true with national chains, which often advertise list prices that are lower than at their California locations.
Farmer Boys: The Riverside-based chain is expanding its lineup of combos with a Bacon Turkey Melt Box with fries and a drink for $9.99. There are also a couple of new breakfast combos called Dinin’ Deals, which are dine-in deals. One is a Hot Cakes Platter with the choice of bacon or sausage for $6.99. The other is a Hog Heaven Omelet with hash browns and toast for $9.99. farmerboys.com
KFC: The fried chicken chain is offering five bowls for $5 each. Among them is Matty’s Cheesy Nuggy Gravy Bowl, named for Matty Matheson of “The Bear.” It includes fries, crispy chicken nuggets, cheese curds and gravy. kfc.com
Little Caesars: The takeout chain is offering two large one-topping pizzas for $4.99 or $5.99 each, depending on what web page you’re ordering from. Use the code PIZZAPIZZA. We tested it on the website and got a total of $13.03, $5.59 for a pepperoni pizza and $6.39 for a sausage pizza. littlecaesars.com
Popeyes: The chicken chain’s Facebook page has a meme advertising $5 Faves, but when we go to the website we get $6 Faves. Either way, the choices are three pieces of chicken, three-piece tenders, two wraps or two sides. popeyes.com
Sonic: A $6 All-American Smasher Meal comes with choice of Groovy Fries or tots and a drink. sonicdrivein.com
Subway: The sandwich chain has four new Protein Pockets, priced at $3.99. They are Baja Chicken, Peppercorn Ranch Chicken, Turkey and Ham, and Italian Trio with ham, pepperoni, salami and provolone. It is also offering a Sub of the Day with choices such as Meatball Marinara and Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki. subway.com
Taco Bell: The Irvine-based fast food giant will launch a new Luxe Value Menu on Jan. 22, although rewards members can get early access on Friday, Jan. 16. It will include five new items priced at less than $3 at participating locations. They are a Mini Taco Salad, a Beefy Potato Loaded Griller, Chips & Nacho Supreme Dip, an Avocado Ranch Chicken Stacker and, for a limited time, Salted Caramel Churros. tacobell.com
The Habit Burger & Grill: This Irvine chain offers on-again-off-again Gotta Habit combos. Right now they’re on again. There are $6, $8 and $10 meal deals, each with a half sandwich, side and a regular fountain drink. The sandwiches include BBQ Chicken, Chicken Club and Santa Barbara Char. Wendy’s: The chain has launched what it calls a new Biggie Deals menu. On its websites, they’re priced $4, $6 and $8. But we found them at $6, $8 and $10. Biggie Bites includes a choice of two items, including a Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Jr. Cheeseburger, Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, four-piece Nuggets, a Jr. Fry or a small soft drink. The Biggie Bag includes a choice of sandwich or four-piece nuggets, fries and a drink. The Biggie Bundle includes the choice of two sandwiches, fries and a drink. wendys.com
