Cameron Carr, Lakers roll past Clippers to remain unbeaten in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Rookie Cameron Carr scored 23 points to lead the Lakers to a 99-85 Summer League victory over the Clippers, remaining unbeaten through three preliminary round games at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center.

Chris Manon had a double-double (17 points, 11 rebounds), and Arthur Kaluma added 15 points and four assists as five Lakers scored in double figures. Adou Thiero had 13 points and six rebounds, and AK Okereke contributed 11 points.

Carr, the 24th pick in last month’s NBA draft out of Baylor, shot 8 for 18 from the field and 3 for 10 from 3-point range on a night when the Lakers shot 38.1% (13 for 34) from behind the arc.

Second-year guard Kobe Sanders had 18 points and six rebounds to pace the Clippers (1-2). Rookie guard Keaton Wagler, the No. 5 pick in the draft, had 16 points on 6-of-15 shooting to go with six rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes. Second-round draft pick Nick Martinelli added 12 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes.


The Lakers held an eight-point lead after the first quarter and doubled the margin for a 54-38 advantage by halftime. The lead grew to 23 points after three quarters, and the Clippers (5 for 21 from 3-point range) couldn’t shoot their way out of the hole.
