Body found by searchers looking for missing swimmer near Playa Del Rey

A body was found Wednesday by searchers looking for a missing swimmer in the ocean near Playa del Rey.

Rescue personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 8100 block of Vista Del Mar — near Dockweiler State Beach — shortly after 1 a.m.

Lifeguard rescue boats also joined the search, and the US Coast Guard was notified.

According to Fox11, three friends went for a night swim, and only two came out of the water. They told authorities they hadn’t seen their friend since going in.

The body of a man in his 20s was found after daybreak, the station reported. Information on his identity was not immediately available.
