Armed suspect surrenders after Panorama City hospital standoff

An armed woman engaged in a standoff with police has been arrested after a nearly three-hour barricade situation at a Panorama City hospital, police said Wednesday.

Members of a Los Angeles Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics team took the suspect into custody at 5:42 a.m., LAPD Officer Charles Miller told City News Service.

LAPD officers responded just before 2 a.m. Wednesday to Mission Community Hospital on the 14800 block of Roscoe Boulevard, an LAPD spokesman said.

The SWAT team arrived after 3 a.m., where they joined LAPD officers outside the hospital.

According to police, the suspect threatened a security guard at the hospital and then locked herself in a restroom.

The security guard was not injured.
