Officers responded around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, to reports of an armed robbery in the 22700 block of Erwin Street between Fallbrook and Sale avenues, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The robbers entered the home through the backyard and held the two residents at gunpoint while stealing thousands of dollars in cash and valuable jewelry before fleeing, police said.

A second break-in was reported early Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the 3400 block of Valley Meadow Road in nearby Sherman Oaks, police said.

In that case, the burglars entered through a bedroom window but fled after tripping an alarm, police said.
