Accident at FBI training facility in Irvine leads to injuries

At least one person was injured in an accident at an FBI training facility in Irvine on Wednesday.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics were dispatched at 12:54 p.m., according to OCFA Capt. Sean Doran, who referred further questions to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff’s officials did not immediately provide any details.

The accident occurred at a training range at Irvine Boulevard and Magazine Road.

“A training incident that occurred today at the FBI’s training facility in Irvine with law enforcement partners resulted in some injuries and is under investigation,” FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.

KCAL9 reported from the scene that as many as 14 people suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospitals. Video from the scene showed investigators focusing on a shooting-range-type bunker and examining a pair of bomb squad robots, among other equipment.
