Yankees Share Major Aaron Judge Injury Update Before WBC

In October 2025, the New York Yankees announced that outfielder Aaron Judge did not need offseason surgery to repair his right elbow. Moreover, New York revealed that Judge had an MRI after the 2025 season, which showed his elbow was healing well.

Now, a few months later, with Judge participating in the 2026 World Baseball Classic for Team USA, Yankees manager Aaron Boone shared the latest regarding Judge’s elbow injury.

“He’s doing really well, actually, because he has ramped up his throwing program a little bit more, because obviously he’s getting ready for the WBC, so he’s ahead of the game more so than he even normally is from a throwing standpoint, but I know it’s going really well for him, and he feels ready to go right away in camp,” Boone told reporters on Jan. 28 (h/t SNY).

Yankees Give Other Injury Updates

Meanwhile, on Jan. 28, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman spoke to the media and shared injury updates on Carlos Rodón and Gerrit Cole heading into the 2026 MLB season.

Rodón is expected to start on the injured list, with a return around April or May, while Cole is projected to come back in late May or early June following his Tommy John surgery.

“Carlos is here in Tampa, and I think Gerrit will be joining sooner than later as well,” Cashman said (h/t SNY). “So no surprises so far in their rehab protocols. If anything, these are super competitors [and] you’ve got to try to slow them down and protect themselves from themselves because they always want to do more sooner than later.

“They always feel like they’re capable of doing things quicker than their timelines. And that’s true with these alpha dogs that are ready to conquer the world at all times.”

Ryan Weathers Excited to Play With Aaron Judge

The Yankees will be counting on Ryan Weathers to help them get through the early months of the season. Moreover, the former Miami Marlins pitcher is ready for a new start in the Bronx and is even more excited to be teammates with Yankees slugger Aaron Judge.

Weathers will be counted on to help New York get back to the World Series after falling short in 2025, losing in the ALDS to the Toronto Blue Jays.

“Super excited,” Weathers told SNY on Jan. 15. “It’s one of the best players in baseball for the last decade. When I have seen him from across the other dugout, I see a leader. I see, obviously, an MVP player, but I see a leader in the clubhouse. Not many people get dubbed the captain of the New York Yankees. That’s a huge honor for him. I, obviously, have seen that he is a true captain, a true leader. I’m looking forward to just being in the clubhouse.”

In 2025, was limited to eight major league starts because of a flexor strain and lat strain in 2025, posting a 3.99 ERA with 37 strikeouts and 12 walks in 38 1/3 innings. He will be looking to improve on these numbers in his first season in the Bronx.
