Brian Cashman and the front office received a lot of criticism for their approach to the offseason. Fans wanted to see the Yankees aggressively pursue top-level free agents. New York chose to basically run it back with last year’s team.
A big part of their hopes will rely on players getting back to full health and staying healthy. Gerrit Cole will be the main X-Factor for the Yankees this season.
That being said, one New York legend has spoken out and weighed in on the team’s chances of winning the World Series this season.
CC Sabathia Gets Honest About Yankees’ World Series Chances
Former star ace pitcher CC Sabathia revealed his thoughts on the matter.
“It feels like a team that can [win a World Series] with all the pitching that they have,” Sabathia said.
“It’s just about that lineup staying healthy. If Max Fried, Will Warren, and Cam Schlittler can hold it down until Carlos Rodón and Gerrit Cole get back.”
On the outside looking in, the Yankees have more than enough talent to win it all. They’ll need health and players to play up to their potential, but the pieces are in place to win a 28th franchise championship.
What Have the Experts Said About the Yankees This Season?
ESPN has predicted that New York will end up winning the American League East division. However, they ended up taking the Los Angeles Dodgers to win a third straight championship.
As for MLB.com analyst Mark Feinsand, he believes that the Yankees will be able to win it all and take home yet another championship. Feinsand has New York defeating the Dodgers to win the World Series.
Bleacher Report also predicted the Yankees to make the playoffs. They have New York coming up short in the Wild Card round against the Kansas City Royals.
Only time will tell what the 2026 season has in store for the Yankees. At least for now, fans are excited about the start to the year and hope to see the winning continue.
