Yankees’ Jazz Chisolm Jr. Sends Message to Doubters of New York’s Current Roster

There’s no doubt that the New York Yankees have received a lot of flak this offseason for not bringing in any star external players. The biggest signing the Yankees made was retaining Cody Bellinger, and some of the team’s other notable moves included retaining Trent Grisham, avoiding arbitration with Jazz Chisholm Jr., and re-signing Paul Goldschmidt, Ryan Yarborough, Amed Rosario, and Paul Blackburn.

Any team led by Aaron Judge is not going to lack starpower, but those who cover and follow the Yankees had been a bit upset due to New York being linked to so many top free agents, but not being able to land any of them. The Yankees still won 94 games last season, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. recently spoke to New York media to voice his thoughts about the Yankees’ current roster.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Beleives In this Yankees Team

Amid all the doubters of this current Yankees roster, Jazz Chisholm Jr. was asked about the Yankees running it back:

“I don’t see a problem with running it back with four MVPs on your team.”

Those four MVPs are Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, Paul Goldschmidt, and Giancarlo Stanton

As great an argument as Chisholm Jr. makes, the Yankees had those same four MVPs on their team last year. Stanton was hurt for much of the year, and Goldschmidt underperformed down the stretch and is aging.

Jazz Chisholm Jr, however, is turning into one of the Yankees’ star players. He hit 31 home runs last season, swiped 31 bases, and posted an OPS of .813. While those aren’t quite Aaron Judge numbers, he was one of the several Yankees hitters last season to hit 25+ home runs.

What Else Did Jazz Chisholm Jr. Have to Say?

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was also asked if there is any motivation for him to perform, given his contract situation:

“I can make as much money as I want, but I don’t have the MVP, I’m not going to be satisfied. That’s more important than that.”

He also added his personal goals for the 2026 season, which are to win MVP and win the World Series. Chisholm also added that “those are his goals every season”.

Jazz might have a little bit of MVP if he puts everything together, but he’s sort of being blocked by teammate Aaron Judge, who is likely a frontrunner to win the award again in the American League.

Aaron Judge is a top-two hitter on the planet, undoubtedly, but it’s what his surrounding cast of players will do during the season that will ultimately determine how far New York advances.
