Women’s basketball: CU Buffs land Iowa State transfer Nyamer Diew

Colorado women’s basketball is adding a veteran forward with starting and winning experience.

Nyamer Diew, who played the past three years at Iowa State, will play her final season of college basketball with the Buffaloes, according to a BuffZone source.

A 6-foot-2 forward, Diew started 19 games for the Cyclones this past season, averaging 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds while helping them reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Diew is the first transfer addition of the offseason for the Buffs, who went 24-10 and reached a second consecutive Sweet 16 this past season. The Buffs will have a revamped roster, as five players have graduated and seven have left as transfers.

Diew began her career at Butler in 2020-21 before playing the past three years at ISU. In her collegiate career, she has played in 107 games with 44 starts, averaging 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds. She has made 37.7% of her shots, including 32.8% from 3-point range. She’s been a 74.3% free throw shooter.

During her three seasons at Iowa State, she helped the Cyclones to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2022.
