The company reported the embezzlement to authorities last June, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The sheriff’s office did not name the firm.

A months-long investigation led to the identification of a former employee as a suspect in the case, the sheriff’s office said.

On March 20, authorities arrested the employee, identified as a 50-year-old Santa Rosa woman, and booked her into San Mateo County jail on an embezzlement charge and a bench warrant.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information can contact Detective David Brandt at dbrandt@smcgov.org or 650-363-4064, or the tip line at 800-547-2700.
