The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina delivered both triumph and disappointment for Team USA figure skating. Now, Alysa Liu, Ilia Malinin, Madison Chock, and Evan Bates are preparing for their next major events.
The 2026 ISU World Figure Skating Championships will take place March 24–29 at Prague’s O2 Arena in Czechia. Shortly after, several top American skaters will join the “Stars on Ice” tour in Japan and the United States, extending the Olympic spotlight into the spring.
Alysa Liu Headlines Team USA at 2026 World Championships
Liu enters the World Championships as both the reigning Olympic gold medalist in the women’s individual event and the defending world champion. The 20-year-old became the first American woman to win Olympic gold in the individual event since Sarah Hughes in 2002.
Liu’s official schedule still lists the World Championships in Prague, and she has also been announced as part of the “Stars on Ice” tour, which begins in Japan before continuing across the United States in April and May.
She will not be the only American woman competing in Prague. Amber Glenn and Isabeau Levito are also on Team USA’s roster. Glenn looks to rebound after a costly mistake in the Olympic short program kept her off the podium in Milan.
The International Skating Union has released official entry lists confirming that nearly all of the sport’s top athletes will compete in Prague.
“I am very pleased that almost the entire world elite has decided to take part in the World Championships after the Olympic Games,” said Evžen Milčinský, president of the local organizing committee, via the Prague Daily News. “From my perspective, this shows that Prague and the Czech Republic are attractive not only for fans, but also for the athletes.”
Team USA Ice Skaters Seek Redemption at Worlds
Malinin, known as the “Quad God,” will also compete in Prague. The four-time world champion finished eighth in the men’s free skate at the Olympics after entering as a heavy favorite.
Malinin acknowledged he views Worlds as an opportunity to respond.
“I’m looking forward to getting myself that ‘redemption competition’, as I like to call it,” Malinin told the “Olympics.com Podcast” last week. “I’m definitely looking at that, and I can be satisfied with it if everything goes well.”
Before Worlds, Malinin is scheduled to appear in the “Art on Ice” shows in Zurich, Switzerland, from Feb. 26–28, according to his official website.
The men’s field in Prague will include Olympic silver medalist Kagiyama Yuma and bronze medalist Sato Shun of Japan. Olympic champion Mikhail Shaidorov has opted to skip the event.
In ice dance, Chock and Bates will attempt to reclaim the top of the podium after controversially finishing narrowly behind French duo Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron at the Olympics. The American team enters Prague as three-time world champions and remains one of the sport’s most decorated duos.
With the World Championships less than a month away and international tours scheduled soon after, fans will not have to wait long to see the Olympic stars back on the ice.
