Following a game in Atlanta, Georgia, the Philadelphia 76ers have more injury concerns on their plate.
Tyrese Maxey is the latest player to deal with a potential setback. Late in the fourth quarter of the Saturday night battle between the Sixers and the Atlanta Hawks, Maxey was seen grabbing at his hand, dealing with clear discomfort. The star guard quickly made his way back to the locker room after the game, creating some concern for his health.

Since Maxeyâs injury occurred at the end of the game, the star guard wasnât ruled questionable or out. With the setback happening so suddenly, the head coach Nick Nurse didnât have any immediate updates.
âNick Nurse said Tyrese Maxey is undergoing X-rays on his hand. He said thatâs the concern,â The Athleticâs Tony Jones reported after the game.
After undergoing X-rays, Maxey looked to be in good spirits, according to reporters in attendance.
âMaxey is in the locker room, eating, with no noticeable wrap or anything restrictive on his hand. He is talking with Joel Embiid and seems to be in good spirits,â Jones added.
While Maxeyâs positive mood isnât any indication of his status moving forward, itâs simply a good sign before the two-time All-Star receives additional testing on his right finger. âNothing conclusive tonight,â Jones finished.
Maxey wrapped up Saturdayâs game with 38 minutes played. He shot 12-22 from the field, going 3-7 from three, and hitting on all four of his free theows. Maxey finished the game with a team-high 31 points. He also added five assists, four steals, and two rebounds to his stat line for the night.
It wasnât enough, as the Sixers came up short with a 125-116 loss against the Hawks.

Heading into Saturdayâs game, the Sixers were already down three starters.
Joel Embiid has been out and dealing with an oblique strain. Fridayâs update from the team confirmed that Embiid would miss at least one more week, ruling him out for four additional games. He has just had two appearances since February 9.
The Sixers also recently lost the rookie star VJ Edgecombe to an abdominal strain. During the Sixersâ March 3 loss against the San Antonio Spurs, Edgecombe went down and out without a return. He has missed the Sixersâ previous two games. The team is considering him day-to-day for now.
Then, thereâs Paul George. Last month, the veteran forward was hit with a 25-game suspension from the NBA. He isnât expected to return until late March at the earliest.
After Saturdayâs loss, the Sixers dropped to 34-29 on the season. They are eighth in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic by 0.5 games.
The Sixers will get the day off on Sunday before returning to the court to face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night. Following a 7 PM ET tip against the Cavs, the Sixers will return home to close out their back-to-back set with a matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. Maxeyâs status in those outings can be considered unknown at this time.
