The Golden State Warriors are going to have a postseason run, but itâs not starting exactly the way Steve Kerr wouldâve imagined.
Heading into the 2025-2026 NBA season, the Warriors believed they were championship contenders in the NBA. During the final week of March, the Warriors clinched a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament. If they want to make it to the playoffs, theyâll have to fight their way in.
Having a chance is a positive position to be in, but Steve Kerr isnât thrilled in the slightest. He showed that much on Thursday, March 26, when the head coach was congratulated on air for clinching a spot in the Play-In.

Steve Kerrâs Reaction Tells The Story Of The Season

âDonât do that,â Kerr said, as he went from smiling to serious. âDonât do that.â
In their latest game out, the Warriors hosted the Brooklyn Nets. The Eastern Conference squad is one of the NBAâs rebuilding teams, and it shows in their record.
At 17-56, the Nets entered the Thursday night matchup on an eight-game losing streak. The Warriors made sure they contributed to it, as they defeated Brooklyn 109-106.
With that win, the Warriors improved to 35-38 on the season. They are 10th in the Western Conference, winning just three of their last 10 games.
The Portland Trail Blazers have a 1.5-game lead over the Warriors, while the Los Angeles Clippers are up two games on Golden State. The chances of the Warriors locking into the 10th and final slot are increasing by the day.
Injuries have played a major part in the Warriorsâ struggles this year. Jimmy Butler is out for the year. Stephen Curry hasnât been healthy in over a month, while other key players are in and out of the lineup frequently.

With Kerr being the coach of the Warriorsâ dynasty, being where they are right now is a tough pill to swallow.
The player-turned-coach joined the Warriors in 2014. Since taking over as the head coach, the Warriors have won nearly 65% of their games during the regular season. They missed the playoffs just three times over the past 11 years.
Kerr is a four-time NBA champion head coach and a five-time champ as a player. While the Warriorsâ hopes and dreams of adding another trophy to the shelf this season arenât totally done, itâs safe to say they drastically underperformed this year. As a result, Kerr is clearly frustrated with where they ended up.
