Walnut Creek has a new vegan mini-market

The Market by Rooted, a new vegan market and cafe, has opened on Walnut Creek’s Larkey Lane.

The project is a new concept from Rooted Coffee Co., which operates fully plant-based cafes on Locust Street in Walnut Creek and Poet’s Corner in Pleasant Hill.

The new Walnut Creek shop offers coffee drinks and sandwiches alongside grab-and-go salads, bowls and desserts, plus gifts, candy and non-coffee beverages, such as cold-pressed juices.

Look for items like the Green Warrior smoothie ($14.25), made with spinach, banana, strawberry, almond butter, hemp seeds and dates, or the Beach Club ($16.75), a plant-based turkey sandwich.

The coffee menu is extensive, and includes a floral nitro coffee ($6) that is refreshing and aromatic.

The shop also carries several gluten-free options and has outdoor seating.

Details: Open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday at 2800 Larkey Lane in Walnut Creek; rootedcoffeeco.com/themarket.
