The Minnesota Vikings are prime candidates to make a move in free agency for a veteran pass-catcher, and a recent member of the Chicago Bears is available and the kind of player who makes sense alongside Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Keenan Allen is a six-time Pro Bowler who spent 2024 in the Windy City, where he tallied 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven TDs. Allen, who will play next season at 34 years old, returned to the Los Angeles Chargers on a one-year contract in 2025 where he has spent 12 of his 13 professional campaigns.
He remains a free agent in late April, with Spotrac projecting a one-year contract worth just shy of $7 million as his market value.
Alec Lewis of The Athletic wrote on the Instagram story of his “Alec Lewis Show” podcast page on Sunday, April 26 that he “definitely” believes Minnesota is “likely” to add a wide receiver to the mix after choosing not to select one in the NFL draft.
The submitter of that question mentioned the possibilities of DeAndre Hopkins and Allen. Lewis responded that the team’s chosen direction is going to depend on its level of financial commitment.
Hopkins, who played with presumed starting quarterback Kyler Murray for multiple years as members of the Arizona Cardinals, has a market value of just $1.5 million in 2026 and has said publicly that he would be happy to reunite with the QB in Minneapolis.
However, Hopkins produced just 22 catches for 330 yards and two scores with the Baltimore Ravens last year, while Allen tallied 81 grabs for 777 yards and four TDs.
Keenan Allen Can Add Multiple Elements to Vikings’ Pass Game in Critical Season

Allen is an expert route runner who uses his size, physicality and great hands to to run roughshod through the first two levels of the defense.
He is a strong possession receiver as well, upon whom the Chargers relied heavily on third down last season and over the course of his career.
“He’s super explosive,” Chargers WR coach Sanjay Lal told Kris Rhim of ESPN in November 2025. “He might not have the 4.3 40-yard dash badge on his name, but as far as twitch goes, he’s elite. So he is physically gifted. He’s not just some guy who has all these moves.”
Vikings Signed Rookie WR Dillon Bell of Georgia After NFL Draft

Minnesota added a potential candidate for the WR3 position in Dillon Bell of Georgia on Saturday, inking him as an undrafted rookie free agent following the conclusion of the draft.
Over four years with the Bulldogs, Bell produced 119 receptions, 1,269 yards and 11 scores. He also rushed the football for 373 yards and five touchdowns.
Bell’s athletic testing was strong at the NFL combine in February, and he has explosive potential as a playmaker, but he doesn’t have great hands. He could factor into the team’s plans as a kick returner and a reserve wideout.
“Bell’s game lacks well-rounded qualities and position-specific skill, but his traits, manufactured-touch talent and kick-return potential should give him a chance to make it as a WR5,” Lance Zierlein of NFL Network wrote.
