The Minnesota Vikings and superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson are expected to take a step in the right direction this season.
After missing the playoffs last year, the Vikings were motivated to be aggressive this offseason. Just two years ago, they were one of the best teams in the NFL.
Unfortunately, the team made a tough decision to let Sam Darnold walk in free agency. They turned over the keys of the franchise to J.J. McCarthy. That decision did not play out well.
Darnold ended up leading the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl win. McCarthy, on the other hand, dealt with multiple injury issues and was unable to prove that he could be a long-term franchise quarterback for the Vikings. That led to the team signing Kyler Murray in free agency.
Jefferson had a down year in 2025. Due to inconsistent quarterback play at best, he only caught 84 passes for 1,048 yards and two touchdowns.
Vikings’ Justin Jefferson Given Head-Turning 2026 Prediction
Needless to say, the production last season was far from what fans in Minnesota have come to expect from Jefferson. He’ll be looking to bounce back strong in 2026.
Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport certainly thinks Jefferson will have that bounce-back season. He has predicted the superstar wideout to lead the NFL in receiving touchdowns this year.
“Jefferson has never had a huge touchdown season—his career high in scores is 10, set in 2021 and 2024. But there’s no denying he is in the discussion as the NFL’s best wideout,” Davenport wrote.
“And in 2026, he’s going to have a career year that includes 15 touchdown catches—and flirting with the single-season receiving yardage record before he comes up just shy of Nacua.”
That prediction is one that every single Vikings fan can get behind.
Minnesota Should Have One of the NFL’s Best Offenses
On paper, Minnesota has the talent to be an elite offensive unit. With Murray likely to be the team’s starting quarterback, the passing game should be much more effective.
Jefferson is joined at the wide receiver position by Jordan Addison and the newly-signed Jauan Jennings. That trio has a chance to be the best in football.
At the running back position, the Vikings will have Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason. The team also brought in Demond Claiborne in the 2026 NFL Draft. Murray and Jefferson will have plenty of support on the ground.
Finally, the tight end position is still set with T.J. Hockenson.
If Minnesota plays up to its full potential, the team should be a contender in the NFC. After a down season in 2025, Jefferson will do everything in his power to put the Vikings back on the map in 2026.
