Due to the nature of this year’s free agency, the Fever only had three players under contracts. Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Makayla Timpson were still on their rookie deals, but they received a bump in salary due to the new collective bargaining agreement.

Here’s the latest training camp roster for the Fever, as confirmed by The Indianapolis Star.

Guards: Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, Tyasha Harris, Raven Johnson, Jessica Timmons, Megan McConnell and Kayana Taylor

Forwards: Sophie Cunningham, Monique Billings, Myisha Hines-Allen, Justin Pissott and Makayla Timpson

Centers: Aliyah Boston and Damaris Dantas

Training camp is scheduled to start on April 19. The Fever could continue to invite three more players to reach the max limit of 18. They will have to cut it down to 12 players, plus two additional spots for developmental players.

Indiana Fever Coach and GM React to Drafting Johnson

Raven Johnson

The Fever had three draft picks, one from each round. Johnson was a surprise pick for some Fever fans, but coach Stephanie White and the front office were very happy with her selection. Pissott is one of the top 3-point shooters in the nation, while Timmons is coming off her best collegiate season.

In a press release by the Fever, coach White explained why Johnson was the perfect pick and how she fits into the roster.

“(Johnson) won at every level, she’s set the tone at every level,” White said. “She’s immediately ready on the defensive end of the floor, which is something that we need. She’s been a true point guard playing for the greatest point guard that’s played the game (South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley). And she’s experienced, she’s experienced in big-time moments. Really excited that she fell to us.”

Meanwhile, general manager Amber Cox was pretty surprised that Johnson fell on their lap at No. 10.

“She’s a leader. She’s a competitor from one of the greatest programs from college basketball and she’s won at the highest level,” Cox said. “To watch her, this year, take her game to the next level and lead South Carolina, we were just so pumped when she was available at No. 10. We know she’s going to come in here and compete really hard and create great depth in our backcourt rotation.”
