The UFC announced that their August numbered event, UFC 330, will take place in Philadelphia on the 15th of the month.
The same event in 2025 was held in Chicago, where Khamzat Chimaev produced a dominant five-round display to wrestle the UFC Middleweight Title away from former holder Dricus Du Plessis.
And this year Dana White and co. are moving the promotion’s same event to South East Pennsylvania, as announced by Governor Josh Shapiro on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.
Who Will Be Fighting on the UFC 330 Card in Philadelphia?
Even though the card’s date and destination has only just been announced, we can already have somewhat of an idea of which fighters the promotion may be eyeing up to take to the octagon on August 15th.
White said on Instagram last month that UFC Welterweight Champion Islam Makhachev has his first title defense targeted for the August card. So it appears at this point that Makhachev will headline the event, and will face one of Ian Machado-Garry or the undefeated Michael Morales.
Looking down the card, two potential names stand out as likely options to feature on the rest of the main card.
Both Joe Pyfer and Sean Brady are from Philadelphia, and would no doubt like to play in front of a home crowd. In fact, Pyfer spoke back in March in the wake of his impressive win against Israel Adesanya about how the two would be a great combination to headline a future card in their shared home city.
“I would love to headline the UFC Philly card. If Sean wins, I consider him our team captain, so if they want to headline himâI know the UFC doesnât care about my friendship with Seanâbut in my book, Seanâs the general.” Pyfer said to Ariel Helwani on March 30.
Could Both Sean Brady and Joe Pyfer Land on UFC 330?
Intuitively the pair would make all the sense in the world to add to the card. Both are big ranked names in two of the more competitive and followed divisions in the sport, they would get support from the local crowd and incentivize fans to buy tickets.
For Pyfer, it feels like an almost foregone conclusion that the UFC will put him on the main card. Having come off a big win, it would not be shocking to see him go up against a name like Nassourdine Imavov, Dricus Du Plessis or Caio Borralho – with a win potentially securing him an imminent title shot.
However, scheduling wise, it could get a bit tricky for Brady. The 33-year old fights Joaquin Buckley on May 9th at UFC 328 in New Jersey, just over three months prior to the Philadelphia card. Whilst three months is not an impossible turnaround period, if Brady takes substantial damage, it could end up being too short a time frame for him to return in.
