U.S. 160 east of Durango closed after natural gas tanker crashes, injuring driver

Crews were on the scene of a single-vehicle crash involving a liquid natural gas tanker that injured the driver and closed U.S. 160 in both directions 5 miles east of Durango Monday morning.

The Colorado State Patrol and area agencies responded to the crash. State Patrol Trooper Gabriel Moltrer said the accident was reported at 11:06 a.m. He said the driver was taken to a hospital. His condition was unknown.

Moltrer didn’t know if anyone else was injured in the crash.

There was an initial report of a grass fire at the accident, but Moltrer said that wasn’t confirmed. Hazardous materials units were on their way to the accident.
