Police first were contacted about an armed robbery about 2:20 a.m. on Monday and responded to the 2500 block of Somersville Road.

A statement from Acting Sgt. Kristian Palma said officers contacted two victims at the scene, both of whom were working the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds. After the fair ended, the two employees were asked to make the night deposit.

The employees than tried to make the deposit at a BMO bank and were approached by a person with a gun who held them up, Palma said. The two employees gave up the money, and the suspect fled.

Police did not have a description of the suspect. They are asking anyone who may have information on what happened to contact them at 925-779-6926.
