Back in March, Mohamed Salah announced that he’ll be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season after nine successful seasons.
The Reds have been linked with several young forwards since Salah’s decision was made official. It’s going to be hard to replicate the production and impact of the 33-year-old club legend.
Salah is currently recovering from a minor hamstring injury suffered in late April against Crystal Palace. He’s expected to return before the end of the season, possibly against Aston Villa on May 15, according to Matt Addison of Liverpool.com.
There are two games remaining in Liverpool’s season, with the final one against Brentford at Anfield on May 24.
Liverpool Target $50M Attacker as Mohamed Salah Replacement

According to Flavien Trésarrieu of L’Équipe, Monaco is expected to lose key players like Folarin Balogun, Maghnes Akliouche and Lamine Camara this summer to transfers.
Akliouche is reportedly being eyed by Liverpool as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah. The attacking midfielder has an estimated transfer value of $50 million. Money isn’t going to prevent the Reds from fulfilling their squad planning in the offseason.
“Liverpool are reportedly more interested in him,” Trésarrieu wrote. “The Reds have a major overhaul planned for this transfer window, and Akliouche and the prospect of spending around €50 million on the 24-year-old attacking midfielder (under contract until 2028) wouldn’t be a deterrent for them.”
In 30 league appearances for Monaco this season, Akliouche has six goals and six assists. He’s a candidate to get selected to France’s roster for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
Aside from Liverpool, PSG and Tottenham are also interested in Akliouche. The Parisiens are monitoring him after he scored two goals at Parc des Princes this season, one each in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League.
As for the Spurs, it will depend on if they stay in the Premiere League or not. They tried to sign Akliouche last summer, but he decided to stay at Monaco.
Other Players Linked to Liverpool

In addition to Maghnes Akliouche, Liverpool has been linked with multiple attacking options as potential replacements for Mohamed Salah.
Some of the names being mentioned are Michael Olise of Bayern Munich, Bradley Barcola of PSG, Jarrod Bowen of West Ham United, Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig, Francisco Conceicao of Juventus and Anthony Gordon of Newcastle, as per Luke Thrower of Liverpool.com.
After winning the Premiere League last year, Liverpool took a step back this season. They currently sit fourth in the EPL table with two games to play. They will have to win at least one more game to ensure Champions League football next season.
There were a lot of expectations entering the campaign, especially after spending nearly $570 million in transfers last summer. They brought in players like Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, among others.
