Tragedy Strikes Detroit Lions As Former Second Round Pick Passes Away

The extended family of the Detroit Lions has suffered an unfortunate loss, as it was announced on Monday evening that former second-round (53rd overall) draft selection Tracy Scroggins has passed away at only 56 years of age.

A native of Checotah, Oklahoma, Scroggins played collegiately with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane and was later selected in the second round (53rd overall) by the Lions in the 1992 NFL Draft.

He went on to play his entire NFL career with the Lions, racking up a total of 321 tackles and 60.5 sacks along with an interception over 142 games (89 stars).

In a statement sent to TMZ, the family of Scroggins announced that he’d suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) during his post-playing career.
