TRADE: MLB World Reacts To Seattle Mariners Sending 4-Year Player To Rays

On Friday night, the Seattle Mariners will open up a series with the St. Louis Cardinals in Missouri.

The Mariners are coming off a 5-4 win over the Athletics (on Thursday).

Before the game, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that the Mariners are trading a player to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Rosenthal wrote: “Rays acquiring RHP Casey Legumina from Mariners, sources tell @TheAthletic. DFA’d last week.”

Legumina has appeared in eight games this season.

He has gone 0-1 with a 4.63 ERA.

Legumina was picked in the eighth round of the 2019 MLB Draft.

He has spent part of four seasons in the MLB with the Cincinnati Reds (and Mariners).

Over 73 career games, the 28-year-old has gone 5-7 with a 5.83 ERA.

Mariners And Rays Right Now

The Mariners are currently 11-15 in 26 games, which has them as the fourth-place team in the American League West.

They are just 1-8 in their first nine games on the road.

Following the Cardinals, the Mariners will visit the Minnesota Twins on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Rays are the second-place team in the American League East with a 13-11 record in 24 games.
