On Tuesday night, the Toronto Raptors will host the Miami Heat in Canada.

The Raptors are coming off a 115-101 loss to the Boston Celtics at TD Garden.

Before Tuesday’s game, the Raptors announced that they had signed a new player.

Josh Lewenberg of TSN wrote (on April 6): “Raptors are using their 15th roster spot to sign guard Tyreke Key, who spent last couple years with the 905. Averaged 14.9 points/shot 40% from 3 this year. Means the 2-ways, Martin & Lawson, won’t have their contracts converted before the end of the season or be playoff eligible”

Key’s Background

Key played his college basketball at Indiana State (four seasons) and Tennessee (one season).

His career averages (in college) were 13.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest while shooting 43.9% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range in 147 games.

In the G League, Key has been a very good shooter this season.

He finished the 2025-26 regular season with averages of 16.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest while shooting 52.1% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range in 33 games (14 starts).

Omer Osman of Raptors Updates wrote (on January 8): “Tyreke Key got inserted into the starting 5 tonight and it has absolutely paid off perfectly for the Raptors 905.

Not only is he leading the team so far in scoring with 23 points, but he’s also had some good defensive plays as well, contributing 2 steals in the process.”

Raptors Ahead Of Miami’s Visit To Toronto

The Raptors. have had a strong season as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 43-35 record in 78 games.

They are 4-6 over their last ten games (and 21-17 at home).

Following Tuesday’s game, the two teams will play (again) on Thursday.

The NBA wrote: “SEEDING STAKES IN TORONTO: The Toronto Raptors host the Miami Heat tonight (7:30pm/et, NBA League Pass) and Thursday (7pm/et, NBA League Pass) in two pivotal Eastern Conference matchups. The No. 6 Raptors lead the No. 10 Heat by two games, with seeds 7-9 sitting a half-game behind Toronto in the chase for a guaranteed playoff spot (top six). Miami needs a victory tonight to remain in contention for a top-six finish.”
