Top NFL Draft Prospect Wants to Be Drafted by Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are getting ready for the NFL Draft, and with needs all over its roster, the team can’t afford to swing and miss on its early selections. Failing to draft well in recent seasons has left the Dolphins in their current position, where they had to part ways with their highest-priced players as the team was no longer good enough to contend for the postseason.

The Dolphins’ strategy under former general manager Chris Grier of trading away top picks for proven players left them with little wiggle room in the draft, and after a pair of poor draft classes, the team took a step back from its postseason appearances in 2022 and 2023.

Now, one of the top prospects, who has been linked with the team as a possibility for Miami with the No. 11 selection, has shared his thoughts on potentially being drafted by the Dolphins..

Mansoor Delane Shares True Feelings on Miami Dolphins

Mansoor Delane, who is viewed as the top cornerback prospect in this year’s class, spoke on the possibility of being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

“It would be great,” Delane said, “Coach Hafley, that’s my guy. He recruited me out of high school, so really just knowing the type of guy and the standard that he has and the way that he’s going to get that program the way it needs to be. It would be a blessing.”

NFL Network draft analyst Bucky Brooks predicted that Delane’s wish could come true as he predicted the Dolphins would draft Delane with the No. 11 selection in his latest mock draft. Brooks wrote:

“Adding a high-IQ cover corner with versatile skills would jump-start the Dolphins’ defensive makeover. Delane displays the instincts, awareness and ball skills to thrive in a vision-and-break system that prioritizes playmaking on the perimeter.”

Potential Dolphins Fit

If Delane is available to the Dolphins at No. 11, he makes sense as he would fill a need.

Miami Herald writer Isaiah Smalls believes the Dolphins should not pass up on Delane if he is available. He wrote:

“As the NFL Draft looms, there will be a lot of speculation about whom the Dolphins select with their No. 11 overall pick. The needs are enormous — cornerback, safety, edge rusher, wide receiver, offensive linemen, etc. — yet not everyone deserves that premium selection. That said, let the former LSU standout fall to the Dolphins and it would be a match made in heaven.”

Delane is the ninth-ranked prospect by NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah. Regarding Delane, Jeremiah wrote:

“Delane is one of the most consistent players in this draft class. He makes everything look easy in coverage as a corner who is extremely loose and fluid in his change of direction. He is adept at press coverage, possessing the ability to re-route and mirror all over the field. In zone, he plays with instincts and awareness. He goes long stretches without getting challenged because of his tight coverage. When he is attacked, he can locate and make plays on the ball. He always looks to get involved in run defense, closing space in a hurry and operating as a physical, reliable tackler. He ran well at his pro day, alleviating any concerns about his speed. Overall, Delane has the tools to match up with every style of receiver. He can run with the vertical weapons and play physical with the bigger ones.”
