The Timberwolves needed a break, and they got one before a massive Game 2 in Denver. Anthony Edwards is still managing a troublesome right knee, but Minnesota will have its star guard on the floor as it tries to respond after dropping the opener. The injury watch is not going away, though, because every Edwards update now carries playoff weight.
Anthony Edwards Available Despite Knee Concern
As Brett Siegel reported, “Anthony Edwards is officially AVAILABLE tonight despite his right knee injury continuing to flare up.”

That one word matters. Available does not mean fully healthy, but it does mean Minnesota gets its best shot-creator, emotional engine, and late-game scorer back in a game that already feels like a swing spot for the series.
The bigger concern is the knee itself, and Reuters noted he had missed 11 of the team’s final 14 regular-season games with knee inflammation before returning in Game 1.
Denver Nuggets vs Minnesota Timberwolves: Game 1 Recap & What’s Next
GettyAnthony Edwards injury update,
Game 1 showed both Edwards’ importance and Minnesota’s problem. He played 38 minutes and finished with 22 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three blocks, going 7-for-19 from the field in a 116-105 loss.
The Timberwolves actually started fast and led by 12 early, but Denver answered with a huge third-quarter surge and never let go. Jamal Murray exploded for 30 points, Nikola Jokic posted 25 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
Now the spotlight shifts back to Edwards. If the knee holds up, Minnesota needs his downhill pressure, rim attacks and shot creation to change the tone of the series. If it does not, the Timberwolves could be asking too much from a roster that already had to fight through a physical, foul-heavy Game 1 in Ball Arena.
Anthony Edwards’ availability changes everything for the Minnesota Timberwolves, even if the right knee issue is still a concern. His ability to get downhill, create shots off the dribble, and pressure the Denver Nuggets defense gives Minnesota a real chance to respond after the Game 1 loss.
More than just scoring, Edwards brings the energy and confidence the Timberwolves feed off in big moments. Against a disciplined Nuggets team led by Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, Minnesota will need Edwards to set the tone early and stay aggressive if it wants to avoid falling into a tough 0-2 hole.
