Timberwolves Announce Final Anthony Edwards News For Game 2 Vs Spurs

The Minnesota Timberwolves are playing the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of their conference semifinals matchup on Wednesday night in a contest that will feature NBA superstar Anthony Edwards.

Edwards was listed as questionable in the lead-up for Game 2, but just over an hour before tipoff, the shooting guard was upgraded to available.

The Timberwolves were led by Edwards in their Game 1 win, as in surprising fashion, he returned from a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee he suffered in the team’s Game 4 win over the Denver Nuggets in the previous round.

GettyNEW YORK, NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 05: Anthony Edwards #5 of the Minnesota Timberwolves warms up before the game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on November 05, 2025 in New York City.

Edwards was questionable for Game 2 with the same knee injury that kept him out for nine days, but as Anthony Slater of ESPN first reported, he is set to play on Wednesday night.

Anthony Edwards is cleared for Game 2. He played 25 minutes in Game 1. Chris Finch: ‘He might be able to play a few more minutes,’” he wrote in a post on X.

Head coach Chris Finch hinted at the idea of Edwards playing more than the 24 minutes he saw on the court in Game 1. As it was his first game back from the knee injury, Edwards was on a minute restriction and was not placed in the starting lineup. That remains to be seen heading into Game 2.

However, while Edwards’ official minute status is still undetermined, speaking earlier in the day on The Pat McAfee Show, Shams Charania of ESPN said he expected the star to see some more time on the court.

“I do think his knee is feeling better,” he said. “The hope is in Game 2 tonight, bump his minutes up a little bit more, and see what he can do.”

Charania, Slater, and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic have all detailed the extreme recovery process Edwards went through to get back on the court for Game 1, as his injury status came as a shock even to his Timberwolves teammates.

But despite his quick return, that didn’t stop Edwards landing on Minnesota’s injury report heading into Game 2. However, he’s now been upgraded, and will play as the Timberwolves hope to take a 2-0 series lead against the Spurs.

While Edwards was questionable for most of the day heading into Game 2 against the Spurs, he wasn’t the only player on the Timberwolves’ injury report.

Ayo Dosunmu was also questionable, as he was dealing with a calf injury he picked up in the final stretch of the regular season that caused him to miss the past two games. However, like Edwards, Dosunmu was upgraded to available, and will make his series debut on Wednesday against San Antonio.

According to Krawczysnki, Finch said that Dosunmu won’t be on a minute restriction in his first game back.

Additionally, the Timberwolves have listed Donte DiVincenzo as out. The point guard is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in the same game they saw Edwards go down. DiVincenzo has already had surgery on the injury, but the team has not offered an official return timeline.

The Timberwolves vs Spurs Game 2 is set to tipoff at 8:30 pm CST on Wednesday, May 6, and will be live on ESPN.
