Texas Rangers Announce Roster Decision On 5x MLB All-Star

On Monday night, the Texas Rangers will play the Kansas City Royals for their latest spring training game.

The Rangers have just two more exhibition games before their Opening Day showdown with the Philadelphia Phillies on March 26.

According to Evan Grant of Dallas Morning News, the Rangers have made the decision to keep Andrew McCutchen on their Opening Day roster.

Grant wrote: “Barring injury, Mark Canha has been told he will not make Rangers opening day roster, so Andrew McCutchen will make the Rangers roster”

McCutchen is coming off a season where he batted .239 with 13 home runs, 57 RBI’s and 51 runs in 135 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He is going into his 18th MLB season.

McCutchen’s MLB Career

McCutchen was the 11th pick in the 2005 MLB Draft.

The former MVP has also spent time with the Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees.

He is most known for his first stint with the Pirates (2009-17).

McCutchen is batting .271 with 332 home runs, 1,152 RBI’s, 1,290 runs and 220 stolen bases over 2,262 career games.

Rangers Last Season

The Rangers are coming off a year where they were the third-place team in the AL West with an 81-81 record.

They won the World Series Championship in 2023 (over the Arizona Diamondbacks).
