Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are busy planning for their 2026 wedding, but Swift has an announcement on the way that has nothing to do with getting married to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
As for that news, Swift’s loyal followers think they know her next move and announcement. Swift, of course, released her 12th studio album, “Life of a Showgirl,” in October 2025, and it’s still a regular on the radio and streaming playlists. But, there’s more to come from this release.
Now, Swift has an announcement to make regarding that album and new music. Even though she hasn’t made it yet, her listeners believe they know what to expect.
Taylor Swift Gearing Up to Make a Move on ‘Life of a Showgirl,’ Amid Travis Kelce Wedding Plans
Swift’s “Opalite” single off the new album is going strong. It reached No. 1 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart in its 20th frame on the tally, marking her 15th No. 1 on that chart alone. According to Forbes, that showing ties her for the most No. 1 hits on that chart with pop-rock band Maroon 5.
But, it’s time for Swift to release her next single off the album, so expect an announcement. Swifties think they already know the song she’ll pick, too.
In a February 24 feature for Bustle, Jake Viswanath says that they think Swift’s next music video, and likely her next single, will be for the song “Father Figure.”
Swift shared her music video for “Opalite” on February 22, stating, “I can’t even sum up my excitement and I’m so blown away by the love you’ve shown this song and video. To put this into perspective… This is actually the first time I’ve had two Hot 100 #1s off of one album since my album 1989 came out in 2014, nearly twelve years ago. Just wanted to say THANK YOU, might go buy a giant pretzel at the mall to celebrate.”
Now, fans think “Father Figure” will be her next music video and possible single. Viswanath states that “some fans suspect that her next Showgirl single will be ‘Father Figure,’ given how many hints she incorporated into the ‘Opalite’ clip.”
Viswanath adds, “In her bedroom, she hung up a poster of George Michael, who is credited as a co-writer on ‘Father Figure’ since she interpolates his track of the same name. One of his vinyls can also be seen on the floor below her.”
Taylor Swift Should Be Proud of Her Album Reviews for ‘The Life of a Showgirl’
Swift’s new album garnered positive reviews, overall. Pitchfork says in their review of the set that while a lot of the album “sounds like much of the pop music you have heard over the past 10 years and throughout your lifetime; it asks that this time, you listen more closely, because this is Taylor Swift, with the enormity of commercial power and cultural significance and algorithmic rank that implies.”
They continue in the review, “‘In my industry, attention is affection,’ Swift says in her video commentary introducing ‘Actually Romantic.’ That’s the showgirl’s job: making you pay attention. It’s working, and if this is the only pop album you hear this year, maybe it’s good enough.”
