Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce reportedly kept their distance from members of the royal family during a London party, according to entertainment industry insider Rob Shuter.
Sources who spoke to Shuter say the apparent snub of Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice at Poppy Delevingne’s 40th birthday celebration in London on May 7 was no accident. Swift made a calculated decision to avoid any association with the ongoing scandal surrounding the princesses’ parents, former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
Shuter reported the story in his Naughty But Nice Substack newsletter on Tuesday. Despite earlier accounts suggesting the Swift-Kelce and royal camps mingled at the bash, which drew nearly 300 guests to London’s Marylebone and Soho neighborhoods, insiders told Shuter that never happened.
Taylor Swift’s Calculated Distance From Eugenie and Beatrice
“Of course Eugenie and Beatrice would have loved to meet Taylor,” one source told Shuter. “But Taylor was having absolutely no part of it.”
Swift, 36, attended alongside her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, while Princess Eugenie arrived with husband Jack Brooksbank and Princess Beatrice with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, according to Star reporter Olivia Bellusci.
“Taylor is one of the smartest celebrities in the world when it comes to protecting her image,” a second source told Shuter. “She didn’t want photographs, headlines, or even casual gossip linking her to royal controversy and Jeffrey Epstein.”
One of the partygoers confirmed to Shuter that Swift and Kelce stuck closely to their own group of friends all evening.
“They were relaxed, affectionate, and very careful about who they interacted with,” the partygoer said.
Shuter’s sources were clear that Swift and Kelce’s avoidance of the princesses was strategic.
“This wasn’t Taylor being rude,” the source told Shuter. “She was polite to everyone, but she knows exactly what stories she wants attached to her name â and this wasn’t one of them.”
Eugenie and Beatrice’s Parents Under Fire for Epstein Ties
Swift has a solid reason for keeping her distance. Former Prince Andrew, father of both princesses, was reportedly arrested in February 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office amid allegations he shared confidential information with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as a U.K. trade envoy. He was released and never charged. Andrew has denied any wrongdoing.
But his brother, King Charles III, further distanced him from royal duties and public honors in 2025 as scrutiny intensified.
The sisters’ mother, Sarah Ferguson, has also been drawn into the controversy. DOJ-released Epstein emails referenced a 2009 visit involving Beatrice and Eugenie, though no evidence of wrongdoing by the princesses has emerged.
Beatrice and Eugenie have reportedly been barred from Royal Ascot and other official events as a result. Hello! royal editor Emily Nash noted that Eugenie’s third child, due this summer, will arrive into “very different family dynamics” than her older siblings experienced. Swift’s decision to steer clear at the Delevingne party signals that, however carefully the princesses navigate their own public image, the Epstein shadow remains dark enough to keep even the world’s biggest pop star at arm’s length.
