For years, the Detroit Lions have wanted to get Las Vegas Raiders edge Maxx Crosby back to his home state of Michigan. Now, he’s available, as according to a report on Tuesday, March 10, from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens have backed out of their deal to trade for Crosby.
“Ravens backed out of the Maxx Crosby trade,” Schefter shared on X.
So, the deal is off, and the Lions could get Crosby to pair with elite edge in Aidan Hutchinson. Initially, the deal was to trade the five-time Pro-Bowl defensive end to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks.
Maxx Crosby’s Farewell Message Offered a Clue Into His Deal Going Wrong
During the 2025 NFL regular season, according to NFL research, Crosby recorded 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception. So, he’s a hot commodity.
On Saturday, March 7, Crosby took to social media to express his thoughts on the trade. His message was so sincere that it should make those in his home state of Michigan emotional.
“Raider Nation has given me everything,” Crosby said in the message. “My family, had the chance to get married, have the most beautiful daughter in the world, grow as a man, as a player, as a leader, a human being. One thing I could say is above all else is that I gave you everything I got and I have no regrets about that. I put everything into trying to win as a Raider.”
Crosby also said that he was surprised about the trade but that there are no hard feelings. “I have zero ill will towards that organization in any way,” Crosby said. “I want them to have all the success in the world.”
He continued and explained how he went about the trade process. “I decided to be quiet because there is so much noise, and ultimately, I’m a football player,” Crosby said. “That’s my job. It’s to get healthy, to be the best version of myself. Not to be in drama, not to be involved with all the other stuff.”
Crosby also said he wants to finish his career with the Raiders and retire as a member of the franchise when the time comes. That’s sweet, but saying that he wants to retire a Las Vegas Raider could have rubbed the Ravens the wrong way.
“I wanted everything good for the Raiders,” Crosby said. “I bleed silver and black. That will never change and I’m a Raider for life. “And I truly wanna finish when it’s all said and done, in a Raiders jersey, whenever that time comes.”
Maxx Crosby, Trey Hendrickson Trades Available
So, Crosby is available again, and so is Trey Hendrickson. We know Brad Holmes doesn’t like to spend big bucks in free agency, but it’s hard to see him resist getting one of these two players, especially if Ben Johnson is looking their way.
This is certainly one of the craziest NFL deals to go wrong in a long time. That’s what makes NFL free agency exciting.
