Crochet has been one of the best young pitchers in the MLB over the previous two seasons.
In his first year with the Red Sox (last season), the two-time All-Star went 18-5 with a 2.59 ERA in 32 games.
It’s worth noting that the franchise gave him a big contract extension last year.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan wrote (on March 31, 2025): “Left-hander Garrett Crochet and the Boston Red Sox are in agreement on a six-year, $170 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The deal starts in 2026 and includes an opt-out after 2030. By far the largest deal ever for a pitcher with 4+ years of service.”

Crochet’s MLB Career
Crochet was the 11th pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.
He spent the first five years of his career with the Chicago White Sox.
In 2024, Crochet was traded to the Red Sox.
The Red Sox wrote (on December 11, 2024): “The #RedSox today acquired LHP Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox, in exchange for four minor leaguers: RHP Wikelman Gonzalez, C Kyle Teel, OF Braden Montgomery, and INF Chase Meidroth.”
Over 140 career games, Crochet has gone 29-26 with a 3.15 ERA.
The Red Sox will need him to return to All-Star form if they want to turn their season around.

Red Sox Right Now
The Red Sox have had a tough start to the 2026 MLB season.
They are 8-13 in their first 21 games, which has them as the fourth-place team in the American League East.
At home, the Red Sox have gone 4-5 in the nine games they have played at Fenway Park.
Following one more game against the Tigers, they will remain at home to host Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees on Tuesday evening.
