Stephon Castle Sends Message After Spurs’ Major Milestone vs 76ers

The San Antonio Spurs lost their star center, Victor Wembanyama, early on against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, April 6.

The star guard Stephon Castle did all he could to make sure the Spurs got their 60th win by the end of the night.

San Antonio knew they were making the playoffs as a top team before Monday’s action. But getting to 60 was still a major accomplishment.

via Underdog on X: Spurs secured a 60-win season, their eighth time in franchise history. It is only the fifth team in NBA history to go from less than 35 wins to 60 wins the following season.

Castle checked in for 31 minutes on Monday. The star guard produced 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists. He moved up the Spurs’ all-time triple-double leaderboard with his performance.

Stephon Castle Opens Up On 60 Wins

Getting to 60 was a goal–but that doesn’t define success for this year’s Spurs. Stephon Castle reacted to the milestone on Monday night.

via Tom Orsborn, San Antonio-Express News: Castle on Spurs getting 60 wins: “It was definitely a goal of ours, especially late in the season. So to be able to accomplish that before the end of the regular season is definitely a big deal, but I think we got our eyes set on bigger goals right now.”

Entering Monday’s action against the 76ers, the Spurs were holding a 59-19 record. They placed second in the Western Conference, trailing only the NBA Champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

With a 115-102 win over the Sixers, the Spurs became just the second team this season to collect their 60th win. They are now 2.5 games behind the Thunder in the Western Conference standings.

At this point, the Spurs are ready to take on whoever. They won’t find out their opponent until the seventh (or eighth) seed is settled in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

The current participants are the Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers, and the Phoenix Suns.
