Sky waive Saylor Poffenbarger

The Sky waived Saylor Poffenbarger, the team announced Tuesday. They signed her to a hardship contract on May 27 when rookie Gabriela Jaquez was out with a hyperextended knee and the team had only nine active players on the roster.

Jaquez has recovered and is playing again, but the Sky aren’t fully healthy yet. Courtney Vandersloot is still working to rebuild the muscle deficit in her left knee after she tore her ACL last season, but she is practicing again and could be available soon. DiJonai Carrington is still in the individual-workout phase of rehabbing ankle surgery and does not have a specific return timeline. And Rickea Jackson is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Poffenbarger appeared in five games with the team, but never played more than eight minutes. She went undrafted in 2026 before signing a training camp contract with the Lynx. She played college ball at UConn, Arkansas, and Maryland.
