No one feels bad for the Seattle Seahawks as the team enjoys their Super Bowl win, but the front office faces challenges to keep the championship roster intact. There was no bigger stage for star running back Kenneth Walker to prove his worth than the Super Bowl.
Walker is headed for NFL free agency where the Seahawks are expected to have plenty of competition to re-sign the playmaker. USA Today’s Nick Brinkerhoff put together a list of the top potential landing spots for Walker. The analyst labeled the Seahawks’ NFC West rival Arizona Cardinals as a potential threat for the running back.
“The Cardinals have been rebuilding for what feels like forever, but they’ll likely commit to a direction this offseason,” Brinkerhoff wrote in a February 9, 2026, story titled, “Kenneth Walker III landing spots: Best free agent fits for Super Bowl MVP.” “Regardless of the path, Walker makes sense as a free agent they’re awfully familiar with. Like the previous teams on this list, they have more of a running back committee rather than your classic RB1.
“(James) Conner is set to be 31 by Week 1 next season and has no shortage of injuries since entering the league in 2017. Signing a player like Walker would allow Arizona to begin a new chapter while using its draft picks on more premium positions.”
Here’s what you need to know about the latest Seahawks rumors on Walker’s future.
Seahawks RB Ken Walker’s Market Value Is Projected To Be a 4-Year, $36 Million Contract
Walker’s preference would likely be re-signing in Seattle over a team like Arizona. Yet, the Seahawks face a challenge in retaining a number of top free agents like Walker, cornerback Riq Woolen and playmaker Rashid Shaheed among other notable players.
In addition to the Cardinals, the Denver Broncos, Washington Commanders and New York Jets were among the teams floated by USA Today as top options for Walker. The Seahawks will have something to say about Walker’s future as well. Spotrac projects Walker’s value to be a four-year, $36 million contract.
Ken Walker on Seahawks Future Ahead of NFL Free Agency: ‘If It Was My Choice, Though, I’d Definitely Stay’
Walker had a season-high 27 carries in the Super Bowl resulting in 135 rushing yards against the New England Patriots. The star also had a long would-be touchdown run in the fourth quarter before the play was negated by a penalty. Ahead of the Super Bowl, Walker admitted that his preference would be to stay in Seattle.
“I’ve been here four years, so you know I’ve gotten to know a lot of stuff about Seattle, and you know a lot of the city, and I feel like they feel good about me as well,” Walker told reporters on February 6, per NFL.com. “So if it was my choice, though, I’d definitely stay.”
It would be less than ideal for Seattle to lose Walker, and fans can expect the franchise to make the running back a priority. Given Zach Charbonnet’s season-ending ACL injury, Walker’s importance to the team’s offense could not be higher.
Yet, Seattle will also need to make some difficult decisions. The franchise is unlikely going to be able to re-sign all the team’s key free agents given each veteran’s championship experience is likely to have appeal around the NFL.
