Seahawks Receive Major Klint Kubiak Update Before Super Bowl LX

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for Super Bowl LX, which will see them square off against the New England Patriots. In the buildup to this game, though, some notable off-field storylines have emerged involving the Seahawks. First, reports emerged indicating that team owner Jody Allen intends to sell the team after the Super Bowl, and now, offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has received a big update on his future.

Thanks to his stellar work with Seattle’s offense in 2025, Kubiak has emerged as one of the top head coach candidates across the league. On Sunday, Kubiak met with the Las Vegas Raiders for a second time to discuss their head coach opening, and according to reports, it sounds like he’s on track to officially get hired by the team.

Seahawks Set to Lose Klint Kubiak to the Raiders

After spending the 2024 season with the New Orleans Saints as their offensive coordinator, Kubiak joined Mike Macdonald’s staff in the same role for the 2025 campaign. Kubiak had his work cut out for him, as he had to find a way to build an offense around Sam Darnold after he was signed to a three-year, $100.5 million contract in free agency.

Discussing white 'advantage' doesn't diminish white working-class' struggles

Darnold turned in his second-straight Pro Bowl-campaign under Kubiak’s lead, and he has helped the Seahawks make it all the way to the Super Bowl. As for other notable developments in 2025, Jaxon Smith-Njigba has turned himself into one of the top wide receivers in the league, and the rushing attack, led by Kenneth Walker III, has never looked better.

With the Raiders and Arizona Cardinals being the final two teams with head coach openings, Kubiak was believed to be a finalist for both jobs. After meeting with Las Vegas for a second time, though, Kubiak locked in on its job, as he is set to try to hammer out a deal with the Raiders once Super Bowl LX wraps up.

“The Raiders are zeroing in on Klint Kubiak as their next head coach, sources tell me and Ian Rapoport,” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported in a post on X. “Nothing can be finalized until after Super Bowl LX. But all signs are pointing towards Kubiak landing in Las Vegas.”

Seattle has likely been preparing for Kubiak’s imminent departure, but getting the news is still a tough pill to swallow. Regardless of what happens in the Super Bowl, Macdonald is going to have to immediately work on finding a new offensive coordinator, which obviously isn’t ideal, especially given how well Kubiak has performed in the role this season.

As if there wasn’t already a high level of urgency to win Super Bowl LX, the stakes have been raised significantly for the Seahawks now. Changes are coming, and nothing is guaranteed when it comes to the team’s hopes of contending for a championship again next season. Seattle needs to do whatever it can to win a Super Bowl ring before Kubiak departs for his new job with Las Vegas.
