Seahawks’ Kenneth Walker III Gets Brutally Honest on Impending Free Agency

Right now, the Seattle Seahawks are only worried about Super Bowl LX, which will see them square off against the New England Patriots. But once the game ends, the team will have to quickly shift its focus to the offseason, and regardless of whether they win or lose, it’s clear this is going to be a very important offseason for the Seahawks.

Even with one game still left to play, Seattle already knows it will have to find a new offensive coordinator, as Klint Kubiak is set to take the Las Vegas Raiders head coach job. Beyond that, though, the team has some important roster-building decisions to make, with one of their top pending free agents set to be star running back Kenneth Walker III.

Kenneth Walker III Gets Real on Upcoming Free Agency

A second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Walker has enjoyed a bounce-back year in 2025 with the Seahawks. After laboring through an injury-plagued 2024 season, Walker proved himself to be a far more consistent option than his running mate, Zach Charbonnet, in 2025. Walker suited up for all 17 games, racking up 1,027 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, while also catching 31 passes for 282 yards.

With Walker’s contract up after Super Bowl LX, his future with the team is murky at best. While Walker has been a very productive running back for the Seahawks during his time in town, the team still has Charbonnet and George Holani as options they can turn to at this position. As a result, the front office may determine that it simply isn’t worth paying Walker a big-money deal to stick around in town.

There’s no doubt Walker has been more productive than both of these guys, but that’s the challenge that comes with building a championship-contending roster in the NFL. Walker knows that where he ends up playing in 2026 and beyond isn’t solely in his control, but if it were, he recently revealed he’d like to stick around with Seattle.

“I’ve been here four years, so you know I’ve gotten to know a lot of stuff about Seattle, and you know a lot of the city, and I feel like they feel good about me as well,” Walker said. “So if it was my choice, though, I’d definitely stay.”

Should the Seahawks Re-Sign Kenneth Walker III?

Whether or not Walker re-signs with the Seahawks will likely come down to how much money he’s looking for. With Charbonnet and Holani still at their disposal, Seattle simply may not be as aggressive as other teams when attempting to sign Walker. If he’s willing to sign a deal for less money, a return could be in the cards, but he will likely receive a bigger offer from another team.

Given the circumstances, it ultimately wouldn’t be a surprise if Super Bowl LX is Walker’s final game as a member of the Seahawks. They already have a running back duo they are comfortable turning to, and there are other, more pressing areas of need on the roster. If the price is right, a reunion with Walker would be a huge win for Seattle, but as free agency draws near, it’s feeling less and less likely that that will happen.
