“Tay is a steal,” Barkley told Kay Adams on ‘Up & Adams’ this week.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure, but this guy can handle it. I love everything he’s about. Shout out to Howie [Roseman]. I don’t know how we got him.”

The Eagles acquired the 25-year-old wide receiver from the Green Bay Packers. He was traded for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.

As soon as Wicks landed on Philly’s roster, he agreed to a one-year extension. He carries three seasons of experience.

Through three years, Wicks played in 46 games. He caught 108 passes for 1,328 yards and 11 touchdowns. In the postseason, he totaled 64 yards for score over three games.

“He just brings a different type of energy for the wide receiver group,” Barkley added. “Not just because he’s a violent route runner and violent catching the ball, but he puts his face in there and blocks at a high level. So I’m excited about having him on this team this year.”

The Eagles figured that DeVonta Smith would slide into the void that the AJ Brown trade to the New England Patriots would leave.

Smith was the No. 1 target before Brown arrived, and he developed into one of the top No. 2s in the game over the past four years. It’s time for an upgrade again.

Wicks was battling for the DeVonta Smith role, and it’s hard to assume he won’t have the spot locked up for Week 1.
