“Gun buyback events provide an anonymous option for community members to turn in firearms they no longer wish to keep,” Sheriff Christina Corpus stated in a press release. “This not only reduces the number of guns in circulation, but also helps prevent tragic accidents involving firearms, contributing to a safer community for all residents.”

The agencies are giving cash incentives ranging from $50 to $200 depending on the type of gun. Guns must be unloaded and stored in the trunk of its owner’s car. Free gun locks will also be distributed.
