The San Diego Padres are a few hours out from their second clash against the Cleveland Guardians.
Ahead of the matchup, the Padres have revealed their decision on Wandy Peralta.
According to Underdog MLB (via X), Peralta will be starting for San Diego on Saturday.

Peralta, now 35 years old, has been playing in the Major Leagues for 11 seasons now.
He made his debut in September 2016 with the Cincinnati Reds, where he remained for four years. In September 2019, he was selected off waivers by the San Francisco Giants and went on to play three seasons with the organization.
Once April 2021 rolled around, Peralta was traded by the Giants, ultimately landing with the New York Yankees in exchange for Mike Tauchman.
Later, San Francisco completed the trade by sending minor leaguer Connor Cannon to the Yankees.
It wasn’t until February 2024 that Peralta started a new chapter with the Padres. He’s been playing with the franchise for nearly three complete seasons now.
At the time of this writing, the veteran southpaw owns a 3.39 ERA and 38 strikeouts across 61.0 innings pitched through 53 games, four of which he started. He’s walked 22 batters so far.

San Diego is currently ranked 15th among the Major League teams with a 4.09 ERA. For reference, the Yankees still hold the helm at No. 1 with a 3.27 ERA.
The Padres’ rotation has been rather underwhelming this season, yet they’ve managed to push themselves back into the running for postseason contention.
The hope resurfaced after San Diego secured a shocking clean sweep over the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this week. To make matters more impressive, their second clash resulted in a whopping 11-2 victory over the Brewers.
Milwaukee is second in all of baseball at 75-48 overall, just behind the Tampa Bay Rays at 74-47.
As humorously noted by Dayn Perry of CBS Sports, “They’ve arrived? They’ve returned? They never really left? Whatever strikes you as the proper declaration, the San Diego Padres’ recent surge has landed them in second wild-card position in the National League, and a third straight trip to the postseason — this one under first-year manager Craig Stammen — is looking much more likely than it did not so long ago.”
The Padres (66-57) are seventh in baseball. They are just behind the Yankees (68-54) but have edged out the Boston Red Sox (65-57).
Simply looking at the National League West standings, the Dodgers (74-49) unsurprisingly lead the pack.
However, San Diego comes in second, followed by the Arizona Diamondbacks (65-58), the Giants (50-72) and the Colorado Rockies (49-73).
Once the Padres conclude their set against Cleveland, they will hit the road and head to Citi Field to face the New York Mets.
This is now the home stretch of their summer schedule, and momentum must continue to increase if they want to officially enter contention this season.
