For Wednesday’s game, the Padres have announced their starting lineup.

Machado will be back in action (as DH).
He is currently batting .232 with four home runs, 16 RBI’s, 18 runs and one stolen base in 27 games.
The future Hall of Famer is in his eighth year playing for the Padres.

The Padres are off to a strong start to the 2026 season with a 19-10 record in 29 games.
They are 10-5 in the 15 games they have played at home.
Following Wednesday’s game with the Cubs, the Padres will get the day off on Thursday.
On Friday, they will remain at home to host the Chicago White Sox.

Machado had spent the first six and a half seasons of his career with the Baltimore Orioles (before a quick stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers).
He helped the Dodgers reach the 2018 World Series.
Last season, the Padres lost in the NL Wild Card Round.
Cubs Ahead Of Series Finale

The Cubs are 18-12 in 30 games, which has them as the second-place team in the National League Central.
After the series, they will head home to host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
