Rory McIlroy is on a winning streak at the Masters, and his wife, Erica Stoll, has been at Augusta National cheering on the golfer during both victories. After winning back-to-back green jackets, McIlroy took a moment in his speech to thank his wife, daughter, Poppy and parents, Gerry and Rosie McIlroy.
A visibly emotional McIlroy labeled his words has as the “hard part” of his speech. McIlroy thanked Stoll and their daughter for having to “put up with me at home.”
“This is the hard part,” McIlroy noted in the April 12, 2026, speech. “I want to say a few thank you’s to the people on my left. First and foremost, my wife and daughter, Erica and Poppy. They have to put up with me at home and, trust me, sometimes that’s a tough thing to do.
“But they have been my biggest supporters. This has definitely turned into Poppy’s favorite week of the year. I don’t know if it’s because of the Par 3 Tournament or it’s the all-you-can eat ice cream in the players’ services building.”
Here’s what you need to know about McIlroy and his wife.
Rory McIlroy’s Parents, Gerry and Rosie, Joined His Wife, Erica Stoll, at the Masters
Unlike last year, McIlroy’s parents, Gerry and Rosie, were at Augusta National to watch their son make history. The golfer revealed that his family was fearful of jinxing him by attending the Masters.
“And also I want to thank, not thank, jeez, my mom and dad,” McIlroy added. “They weren’t here last year to celebrate with us. And surprisingly I had to convince them to come this year, because they thought that the reason that I won was because they weren’t here. So, I’m glad that we proved that wrong.
“Mom and dad, I owe everything to you. You are the most wonderful parents, and if I can be half the parent to Poppy as you were to me then I know I’ve done a good job.”
